Including all extracted vignettes in learning set

When you are creating a learning file, do you need to sort all of the vignettes you extracted? The short manual makes it sound like you must do that ("once you have finished sorting ALL the vignettes"). Or, can we leave ones out that we don't want to include in the learning set?
