Data Analysis Variables Empty Data Analysis Variables

Post  Silke Thu Mar 12, 2009 5:39 pm

Hello,
where can we find more detailled information about the Original and Custmized Variables used in the Data Analysis. How do we know which variables are necessary for the Analysis and which shouldn`t be selected. We often get the message: "Analysis failed, check your selections."
The manual does not list all the parameters and on the ImageJ-website not all the variables are explained.
Thanks for any help, Silke & Jürgen from Hamburg

Data Analysis Variables Empty Choosing variables in Plankton identifier and Zooprocess

Dear Silke,
You can find information on the measured variables both in the PKId manual in PDF which can be downloaded on the website (http://www.obs-vlfr.fr/~gaspari/Plankton_Identifier/uploads/PkID_UserGuide%20Jan2008.pdf).
You can also get information on the Zooscan website (application notes) : http://www.obs-vlfr.fr/LOV/ZooPart/ZooScan/rubrique.php3?id_rubrique=36?lang=en
The "new" shape and texture parametres are available in Zooprocess even if not yet described (pub in prep !). Some info : http://www.obs-vlfr.fr/LOV/ZooPart/ZooScan/article.php3?id_article=119

You should select all the variables except the position ones and the TAG.
Use all the customized variables, you can also normalize the NB1-3 by the Area and the Convperim by the perim and the convarea by the area by creating new variables.

Use the Random Forest method : faster, more efficient, less problems !
